Mediation Is An Excellent Alternative To Litigation
Mediation provides couples with the opportunity to engage one attorney to assist them in reaching an agreement. This is ideal for parties who have the same or very similar goals for the resolution of their matter, and are able to communicate respectfully with each other.
In mediation, the parties jointly retain an attorney. They attend two to three meetings, whereby both parties are given the opportunity to discuss their offers of settlement and possible resolutions. While the mediator cannot meet privately with either party or offer biased advice, she can discuss and weigh different options with the couple. Once an agreement is reached, the mediator prepares the documents for filing with the Court.
